Bethanie, Western Australia’s leading not-for-profit aged care and retirement living provider confirms it has entered into a conditional agreement to acquire the Aged Care facilities known as Berrington Subiaco and Berrington Como. If all of the conditions are met, Bethanie expects to take over the operation of these Aged Care facilities in early 2020.
KPMG’s Hayden White was appointed the administrator of Berrington’s business operations including its Subiaco and Como Aged Care facilities in July 2019.
“Securing the sale of the Berrington facilities to Bethanie is the best possible outcome for all stakeholders involved. It provides certainty to the residents which means they can continue to enjoy the high-quality care that they are used to and provides ongoing employment for the Berrington staff,” said Mr White.
Bethanie Chief Executive Officer Chris How said the acquisition would be a wonderful opportunity to care for more West Australian seniors.
“The opportunity comes at the right time for Bethanie and is consistent with our strategy to expand our business within Western Australia. We look forward to integrating Berrington’s Subiaco and Como Aged Care facilities into the Bethanie Group and welcoming residents, their families and employees to the Bethanie family.”
“Quality of care, health and well-being are paramount to Bethanie. This is our single most important concern for Berrington residents and employees,” said Mr How.
Meetings with Berrington residents, their families and employees to discuss the proposed acquisition, meet with the Bethanie team and to address any questions will commence next week.
Mr How noted that the administrator has been working closely with staff from the Department of Health and thanked the Department for its continuing efforts to minimize disruption to residents of these facilities.
