It works for the harp and guitar

Perth Guitarist Darryn Santana and harpist Eliza Santana are thrilled to release their latest album, Works for Harp & Guitar Pt. 2 available from May 10 on all major online music platforms including Spotify, iTunes, YouTube Music and Amazon.

This new album presents three world premieres by prominent Australian composers. Two of these, Marian Budos’ View from the Eagle’s Nest and Shaun Rigney’s Ariette, have been specifically commissioned for this album. The third is young composer Isaac Glover’s piece Autumn’s End.

The album also includes the Australian premiere of a monumental five-movement sonata for harp and guitar called Spirit of Trees by legendary Armenian American composer Alan Hovhaness. This sonata is described by internationally recognised classical guitarist David Leisner as ‘deserving its place as a significant work of the late 20th century classical music tradition’ and certainly a ‘must have’ in the repertoire for this unique chamber ensemble. Darryn and Eliza are proud to present Australia’s first interpretation of this original and evocate piece and are especially most passionate about continuing their trend of commissioning new works for this chamber ensemble set up.

Darryn and Eliza Santana, both sought-after soloists from Perth, met and formed the duo in 2015 whilst studying at The Conservatorium of Music UWA. Their first album, Works for Harp & Guitar, was released in 2018 and they have since established a busy career of performing including regular appearances at the Albany Entertainment Centre chamber concert series, cappuccino concert series, Fringe World Festival and appeared regularly on radio programs RTRFM, ABC south west and Radio Fremantle. Find out more by visiting;
