Immersion in Provence

Pont-du-Gard

Travel author Ann Rickard has been hosting small groups in Provence for the past 13 years, and specialises in looking after baby-boomers who love to travel and party.

She has a few places left for her June 2018 tour.

Base yourself for two glorious weeks in a large house with pool in the Duchy town of Uzes, on the border of Gard and Provence.

From there make delightful day trips to all the beautiful Provencal towns and iconic sites.

“We take only eight guests,” Ann said.

“We focus on an intimate family-like environment, going out together in our nine seater minivan to towns such as Les Baux de Provence, L’Isle sur la Sorgue, Avignon, Arles, Nîmes and some of the smaller lesser known villages.”

Guests take all meals together, many of them prepared in-house by local chefs focussing on produce, others in restaurants from the high-end to the authentically rustic. Local musicians entertain on some nights.

“We want people to immerse themselves in the French way, see some of the beautiful sights and enjoy good food, wine and company,” Ann said.

“We show the best of Provence at a structured but leisurely pace.

“Time for resting by the pool, especially after a day of touring, is important, and our guests love free afternoons to explore Uzes right outside our door.  It is a picturesque leafy town full of boutique shops, cafes, restaurants and twice-weekly vibrant markets said to be the best in France.

Exploring the Market

“The Pont-du-Gard, the aqueduct built by the Romans 2,000 years ago, is a short drive away.  We picnic beneath its mighty structure by the Gardon river and it is a highlight of all our highlights.”

Ann insists that tour costs are all-inclusive of food, accommodation, wine, transfers, coach travel, restaurant visits, entry tickets to sites, entertainment and very much more.

“I want people to know that once they have paid, there are no other costs,” she said.

“This way guests know their budget…lots of money left over for spending in the beautiful shops in the towns we visit.”
