Customers from leading not-for-profit, Community Vision, will be able to feel the wind through their hair again as Christmas comes early.
Emily Hamilton MLA, Member for Joondalup, has delivered on her commitment of $40,000 for two Triobike Taxis for the community-based organisation, as part of the McGowan Labor Government’s 2021 election commitments.
The Triobike Taxis from Cargocyles are built for comfort, accessibility and safety, including two 2-point seat belts. They will allow Support Workers to easily take two customers at a time for bike rides around the suburbs.
Community Vision provide a range of services to people of all ages and abilities through Home Care and Disability Care and these bikes will provide an opportunity for customers that they may not have experienced in some time.
Chief Operating Officer Yvonne Timson says, “For some of our customer the chance to ride a bike again is a wonderful experience, both for them and our Support Workers.
“Some of these simpler things in life we can take for granted. For our customers it will get them up and out and into the fresh air. We are so grateful for all the support that Emily provides us, this one being a brilliant early Christmas gift.”
Being given the opportunity to go for a bike ride will be incorporated into the normal services Community Vision provide for customers.
Emily Hamilton MLA, Member for Joondalup, adds, “Community Vision is a fantastic organisation providing support and services to vulnerable members of our local community.
“I’m proud to have delivered funding that will allow people to enjoy a biking experience out in the fresh air, with the added benefit of social interaction.
“Thanks to Community Vision Support Workers who make this a wonderful experience for customers.”
