Closed: Tea with the Dames

OLD friends Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Joan Plowright and Eileen Atkins spend a weekend together at a retreat once shared by Plowright and Laurence Olivier.

They reflect on their lives and careers in the documentary Tea with the Dames, directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill).

The ladies have gone from fledgling actresses in the 1950s to become acting royalty. Each has received a damehood in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the acting profession.

Tea with the Dames invites you to spend time with these theatrical icons for the first time together on screen.

They talk about their lives now and then: their experience in theatre, TV and cinema and the memories that they have from when they were bright young things right up to the present day – now looking back with the wisdom of the years.

This film is a wonderful insight into acting royalty featuring four favourite English actresses.

In cinemas 7 June.
