Alert to Perth motorists – fill up now to beat the petrol price rise
Motorists in Perth and Mandurah are advised to fill up now if they need to, with petrol prices set to rise tomorrow. After today, motorists will likely have to wait a week before petrol prices are again at the bottom of the price cycle.
FuelWatch reports that, from 6am tomorrow (Wednesday 18 January 2023), the average price of regular unleaded petrol (ULP) will increase by over 26 cents per litre (cpl) to 187.2 cpl. 7-Eleven, BP and Caltex/Puma hiking by up to 41 cpl up to 199.9 cpl; Ampol and Coles Express up to 197.9 cpl; EG Ampol and United up to 195.9 cpl; and Vibe up to 195.5 cpl.
Despite the average hike tomorrow, there are still 47 individual sites offering prices below 160 cpl, so consumers should check the FuelWatch website to find the lowest price near them. Buying fuel from the cheapest site rather than the most expensive, a difference of 45 cpl, means motorists can potentially save $27 on a 60 litre tank.
Tuesday’s cheapest ULP is available for:
- 155.9 cpl at Ampol Foodary High Wycombe and Shell High Wycombe in the East;
- 154.7 cpl at Costco Casuarina and Costco Perth Airport (membership required) and 155.7 cpl at United Perth Airport in the South; and
- 155.9 cpl at Coles Express Duncraig, Coles Express Ocean Reef and Coles Express Warwick in the North.
Wednesday’s cheapest ULP will be available for:
- 155.9 cpl at Ampol Foodary High Wycombe and Shell High Wycombe in the East;
- 154.7 cpl at Costco Casuarina and Costco Perth Airport (membership required) and 155.7 cpl at United Perth Airport in the South; and
- 156.3 cpl at Metro Malaga in the North.
