Rockingham residents encouraged to get active in November

The City of Rockingham will launch its 2019 Get Active Rockingham program in November and residents across the community are encouraged to get involved to improve their health.

The program, which will launch with an expo at the Gary Holland Community Centre on Saturday 2 November 2019 from 9am – 12pm, focuses on promoting the range of physical activity opportunities that exist in Rockingham.

At the expo more than 20 local health and fitness providers will showcase the variety of ways people can Get Active in Rockingham. The event will include fitness demonstrations, mini classes, health assessments, fitness challenges and plenty of other great offers.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged the community to get active to improve their health throughout November.

“It takes 21 days to form a new habit, and what better time than the end of the year to create some healthy habits for a bright start to the New Year,” Mayor Sammels said.

“Throughout the City of Rockingham there are a number of ways people can choose to get active. Whether it’s walking through bush trails, hiking throughout Cape Peron, or joining a fitness class at the Aqua Jetty, there is something for everyone.

“The Get Active Expo will highlight all of these options, so if you are looking to improve your physical and mental wellbeing then I encourage you to visit the expo on Saturday 2 November.”

Free fitness sessions including Bootcamp, Boxfit and yoga, as well as a mindset workshop will also be available to the community throughout November to help people stay on track and boost their fitness. For more information on these sessions visit rockingham.wa.gov.au/getactive
