After four successful tours around the UK and Australia, Sydney Fringe Comedy Award winner and 2023 Shaftesbury Fringe Best Comedy Act Robyn Perkins is taking her brand new show format to the international festival circuit and presenting Comedy for the Curious at FRINGE WORLD for the first time, February 9-11.
The show’s host comedian – qualified scientist Robyn Perkins (originally from the US and pictured above) said her unique show uses stand-up and science to understand life.
“The show sets out to answer some of life’s most interesting questions. Why do I make bad decisions? How do you get more confident? Which are ‘better’, cats or dogs? Strap in, because this show has the answers,” said Perkins.
With guest comedians and industry experts, Perkins said the show’s creation was a result of her own curiosity.
“I love asking questions. I over-analyse my life, and am constantly searching for reasons why I am the way I am. This show has allowed me to ask some big questions and explain them with comedy.
“It’s not only fun sharing what I have found, but the guest comics bring such a different perspective, each show is unpredictably hilarious and different.”
With the show focussed on a different topic per performance, each comprises of two stand-up comedy sets, alongside stimulating chats pondering that show’s theme, and ending with a silly game which pits the comedian against the audience for the ultimate prize (spoiler alert: it’s a coaster).
Comedy for the Curious started online in 2020 from Perkins’ home in London, but has now been touring the UK live circuit and international festivals for the past few years, taking in the Edinburgh Fringe, Cambridge Science Festival (USA), Adelaide Fringe and now Perth for the first time in 2024.
