Food lovers from across Australia are being invited to pack their appetites and head to Queensland this June, as the Scenic Rim Eat Local Month celebrates 15 years of paddock-to-plate perfection with its biggest program yet.
Just an hour from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the Scenic Rim will transform into a food lover’s paradise, hosting 153 events across the month — including 51 brand-new experiences that showcase the region’s world-class produce, award-winning chefs and breathtaking countryside.
The month-long celebration has grown from a small local gathering into one of Australia’s premier food tourism events, recently winning Gold for Excellence in Food Tourism at the 2025 Queensland Tourism Awards.
A Feast of Experiences
Visitors can expect long lunches on working farms, dinners under the stars, hands-on workshops, tastings, and family-friendly farm adventures. The 2026 program includes 42 On-Farm Adventures, 40 Lunches and Dinners, 48 Family Events, and 62 Workshops and Experiences.
Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell said the event continues to boost regional tourism and the state’s economy.
New Flavours and Fresh Adventures
Among the new highlights are a collaboration between Tamborine Mountain’s Franquette and Brisbane’s acclaimed diner Joy, a farm picnic at Northview Highlands with its miniature Highland Coos and Valais Blacknose Sheep, and a dinner and cocktail masterclass at Fox Hill Grove with Blume Restaurant.
Families can join the Little Farmers Day Out at Clandulla Cottages & Farmstay, while adventurous foodies can cycle the Ride, Gather and Graze Picnic Trail on Tamborine Mountain.
Workshops range from Cupcake Bouquets and Cocktails to Modern Apéritifs Cocktail Classes, while wine lovers can indulge in Chocolate, Cheese and Wine in the Vineyard at Bunjurgen Estate.
Meet the Makers
Twelve of Queensland’s top chefs return as Scenic Rim Food Ambassadors, including Josh Lopez, Cameron Matthews, Jack Stuart, and Javier Codina.
Chef Josh Lopez, the festival’s first Regional Ambassador, said the event is a must for anyone who loves food with a story.
A True Taste of Queensland
The Scenic Rim is Australia’s carrot-growing capital, harvesting around 600 million carrots each year. The famous Kalfresh Carrot Day remains a family favourite, while Moffatt’s Fresh Produce will again serve its limited-edition Carrot Ice Cream, available only in June.
Scenic Rim Regional Council Mayor Tom Sharp said the event offers visitors a genuine connection to the land and its people.
The Grand Finale
The festival concludes with the Winter Harvest Festival in Kalbar from June 26–28, featuring the famous Tractor Pull and a weekend of harvest celebrations.
With its mix of farm feasts, local produce, and country hospitality, Scenic Rim Eat Local Month is the ultimate winter getaway for interstate visitors seeking authentic food experiences in one of Australia’s most beautiful regions.
