Ord Valley Muster Full Steam Ahead for 25th Anniversary

Preparations are in full swing for the 25th anniversary of the Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster, which will take place from May 15 to 24 in Kununurra, Western Australia.

Organisers are reassuring travellers that the event will go ahead as planned, with local businesses working to keep travel costs down and ensure fuel supplies remain stable across the region.

Tony Chafer, CEO of Cambridge Gulf Limited (CGL) and former chair of Ord Valley Events Inc, said visitors can travel with confidence.

“Kununurra has secure diesel supplies through Wyndham Port, with ample reserves currently in storage, along with shipments arriving from Singapore in mid-April and again at the end of May,” Mr Chafer said.

The reassurance comes after news of other major event cancellations due to rising costs. However, Ord Valley Events Inc has confirmed that the Muster will proceed as planned.

Chairperson Sophie Cooke said the team remains committed to delivering an unforgettable festival experience.

“We truly sympathise with the other major events that have had to make the tough call to cancel due to fuel prices and other pressures,” Ms Cooke said. “We know how much hard work goes on behind the scenes and it’s always heartbreaking for everyone involved.”

With the festival going ahead, visitors can look forward to one of the most spectacular times of year in the East Kimberley, when waterfalls are at their best and the landscape is lush and vibrant.

The 2026 Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster will feature a packed program of entertainment and cultural experiences.

The iconic Kimberley Moon Experience will headline the celebrations, featuring Tina Arena, Boy & Bear, and Budjerah.

Other highlights include Wonder, a lively tribute to the world’s greatest one-hit wonders, and the new Colours of Country, a special evening celebrating East Kimberley art, music, fashion, food, and storytelling.

Comedy in the Park will deliver a night of laughs with performances by Eddie Ifft, Troy Kinne, Danielle Walker, and He Huang. The festival will open with the Horizon Power Party in the Park, a free community event filled with live music and local entertainment.

Throughout the ten days, visitors can also enjoy the Cultural Full Day Tour at El Questro, the excitement of the Muster Rodeo, and a range of unique experiences that showcase the region’s natural beauty and community spirit.

Run by Ord Valley Events Inc, a dedicated volunteer board, the Muster continues to highlight the best of the East Kimberley — its people, landscapes, creativity, and culture.

The event is supported by the Western Australian Government through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program, funded by Royalties for Regions.
