F1 fans, race to Melbourne before April

There are only two races left, just over a week to go before a Formula 1 champion is crowned and the season is over. Fret not F1 fans, you can get your racing fix in Melbourne throughout the off season at the Formula 1 Exhibition which opened this week and runs until April.

For the first time in Asia-Pacific, the Formula 1 Exhibition delivers an immersive and interactive display of F1 over the sport’s 75-year history.

Over 22,000 square feet at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the F1 Exhibition features seven themed rooms housing five F1 cars including Jack Brabham’s 1966 BT19, the 2011 Red Bull RB7 driven by world champion Sebastian Vettel and Australian Mark Webber, and Alan Jones’ championship winning 1980 Williams FW07/04, plus 60+ helmets, 25+ race suits, and 100 exclusive interviews.

A highlight is racing along the Albert Park track in one of 10 racing simulators, the most fun I’ve ever had in seven minutes.

At the official opening, guests heard from F1 Academy drivers Aiva Anagnostiadis (18) and Joanne Cicconte (16), the youngest driver in the series, Oscar Piastri’s former high performance coach Kim Keedle, and producer of the exhibition, Jonathan Linden.

Linden said he’s always been a sports fan and the idea to create the F1 Exhibition was sparked in 2019.

“The It took quite a long time to negotiate with Formula 1 and then all the teams,” said Linden, co-CEO of Round Room.

“We’re thrilled to bring The Formula 1 Exhibition to the APAC region, and Melbourne is the perfect place to kick things off. With its storied motorsport history, iconic circuits, and legendary drivers, Australia offers an unmatched backdrop for this immersive experience.”

F1 fans are encouraged to book tickets after record-breaking tours across Europe – in Madrid, Vienna, London, and Amsterdam, and successful runs in Toronto and Buenos Aires.

A poignant reminder that motorsport is dangerous is the Survival Room, a display of Romain Grosjean’s horrific fire-ball crash in Bahrain 2020 that includes his burnt gloves and his left shoe that melted onto the pedal, preventing him from getting out.

There are plenty of interactive installations that include designing your own helmet, becoming a digital F1 driver, photos on the podium and more.

Tickets available from Ticketek and prices start from $49.90 for adults and $24.90 for children. For more information, visit f1exhibition.com/melbourne.
