New group will provide a direct voice to Minister on issues affecting volunteering
Volunteering WA, the peak body for Volunteering in Western Australia, is pleased to announce the establishment of a Volunteering Community Reference Group to advise Volunteering Minister Mick Murray on trends and issues impacting the volunteering sector.
Prior to the election, Volunteering WA called for an incoming government to commit to a ministerial reference group.
“Volunteering WA welcomes the formation of the Volunteering Community Reference Group and we look forward to working with the Minister on all matters relating to volunteering and discussing the challenges and opportunities faced by the sector,” says Volunteering WA CEO Tina Williams.
The Volunteering Community Reference Group will advise the Minister on current challenges and developments in volunteering and assist in identifying gaps, barriers, strengths, and opportunities to advance volunteering in Western Australia. It will also provide feedback on the implementation of the State Volunteering Strategy.
Membership of the group will include representatives from not-for-profit and volunteering organisations including Volunteering WA (convenor), the corporate sector, research institutions, State Government representatives, and individual volunteers.
Volunteers and not-for-profit representatives can express their interest via Volunteering WA at volunteeringwa.org.au/vcrg, and will be appointed by invitation from the Volunteering Minister. EOIs are now open and will close on COB 29th November 2017.
