Perth’s annual Stamp & Coin Show is set to return for its 15th year, promising collectors and curious visitors alike a weekend of discovery, nostalgia, and potential treasure. The event will be held at the South Perth Community Centre from Friday March 6 to Sunday March 8. Doors open from 1pm on Friday and from 10am on both Saturday and Sunday.
More than 30 specialist dealers from across Australia will gather under one roof, buying and selling a vast range of stamps, coins, banknotes, and postcards. Visitors are invited to bring along their own collections for free valuations — and perhaps even sell them on the spot. Over the years, many Perth residents have uncovered unexpected windfalls after cashing in old stamp albums or tins of coins.
From early European issues and Australian Federation-era pieces to modern releases from world postal administrations and mints, the show offers a fascinating glimpse into history through miniature works of art and currency.
Adding to the excitement, The Perth Mint will showcase a limited-edition coin, while daily stamp and coin covers (PNCs) will once again be available. This year’s theme celebrates an Australian icon — Vegemite — with Friday’s special cover honouring Vince Garreffa, founder of Perth’s renowned Mondo’s butcher shop in Inglewood. Garreffa, who famously cooked for Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh during their 2011 visit, has embraced Vegemite in his cooking, including his signature “West Australian Rib Lamb Cutlets with Vegemite, fetta & pancetta.”
The exclusive PNC features the $2 Vegemite “Tastes Like Australia” black-coloured coin, personally signed by Garreffa, with his stamp attached and the recipe printed on the coin card insert.
For collectors, hobbyists, and anyone seeking a unique outing, the Perth Stamp & Coin Show offers free entry, free valuations, daily prize draws, and the chance to explore a treasure trove of history and artistry.
