100 reasons to adopt a pet from the RSPCA

March is National Pet Adoption Month, and this year there are 100 extra reasons to adopt from RSPCA WA.

Royal Canin will contribute $100 for every cat or dog adopted from RSPCA locations across Australia during March, helping even more animals find their forever homes.

RSPCA WA Shelter Manager Emily Farrell said the initiative would make every adoption go further.

“By adopting from the RSPCA, you’re already giving an animal a second chance at a safe and loving home,” Ms Farrell said. “By adopting in March, you’ll also be helping the animals still in care thanks to the $100 Royal Canin contribution.”

One of the animals waiting for a new home is Pixel, a 10‑month‑old mixed‑breed puppy who has spent more than a third of his life in RSPCA care. Pixel was surrendered after injuring his front leg, which sadly had to be amputated. Despite this, Ms Farrell said the playful pup has adapted well to life on three legs.

“Pixel is naturally a little timid, so a loving, stable home environment is just what he needs to shine,” she said. “He does have some special needs given his medical history, but we’ll provide all the information and behaviour support needed to make the adoption and settling‑in process as smooth as possible.”

Each year, Royal Canin provides 288 tonnes of high‑quality pet food to nourish animals in RSPCA shelters while they await adoption. All adopted cats and dogs go home desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, protected against fleas and ticks with Bravecto, and with a bag of Royal Canin dry food.

This March, Royal Canin is taking its support even further by contributing $100 to the RSPCA for every adoption, up to a total of $200,000.

Royal Canin ANZ managing director Jeremy Sassoon said the company was proud to support the RSPCA’s mission.

“Every adoption is a story of hope,” Mr Sassoon said. “By supporting the RSPCA, Royal Canin is helping to turn these stories into reality, ensuring adopted pets go home not only with a loving family but also with the nutrition they need to thrive.

“There are hundreds of reasons to consider adopting a new pet. One of my top reasons is the daily adventures and fun our dog brings into our home. If you’ve been thinking about bringing a new pet into your life, now is a great time.”
