Winter just got a whole lot tastier. Throughout the month of June, venues across Western Australia will be serving up specially crafted dishes that celebrate the best of our local produce — all part of the deliciously popular Plating Up WA campaign.
Now in its seventh year, Plating Up WA is an initiative of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s Buy West Eat Best program. The campaign highlights WA’s world-class food and beverage offerings and invites food lovers to experience them on a plate — from casual cafés and bustling pubs to fine-dining restaurants, wineries, and everything in between.
Over 30 days, participating venues will dish up unique menu items created using the freshest seasonal ingredients grown, farmed, fished, and produced right here in Western Australia. From breakfast to dessert, and bar bites to grazing boards, there’s something to suit every palate and every budget.
Melissa Worthington, Program Manager for Buy West Eat Best, says the team is proud to continue the momentum of this beloved campaign: “We’re thrilled to bring Plating Up WA back for its seventh year. The campaign has supported more than 250 venues since it kicked off in 2018, and connected our talented chefs with a huge range of incredible local producers. Many of the ingredients showcased this year come directly from our Buy West Eat Best ingredient register or shopping list for chefs — it’s truly a collaborative effort between paddock, dock, plate and community.”
At the heart of the campaign is the commitment to support WA’s food, beverage, hospitality, and tourism sectors during the traditionally quieter winter months — a time when a boost is most welcome.
Chef liaison Scott Bridger, chef and co-owner of Bib & Tucker, is proud to be part of the team to deliver the campaign: “It’s an honour to support WA chefs as part of this campaign,” said Scott.
“We’re lucky to work with such passionate producers and sustainable ingredients — from our pristine oceans to lush pastures. I’m excited to help bring WA produce to life for diners this winter and support the people who make it all possible.”
In 2024, the Plating Up WA website achieved 18,000 unique visitors and social media channels achieving over three million impressions. This year, even more food lovers are expected to explore venue listings, scroll through mouth-watering dishes, and make bookings. The campaign will once again be backed by a mix of print, digital, and social media promotions — all shining a light on WA’s diverse food and beverage scene and spectacular local ingredients.
Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or simply love a good meal made with local love, this is your chance to explore and support Western Australian talent on the plate.
Bookings will be open via www.platingupwa.com on May 19.
