A serendipitous find in the city

This month’s Knife and Fork Talk with the Dining Divas sees them not stray too far from home. Braving the rain we tootled into the city with the intention of visiting a Turkish restaurant to try a different cuisine.

We walked into what we thought was the right place but we soon realised we were wrong.

We could have been in some-one’s box room containing two tables and two swarthy men dining on one table. Another hurried and harried man from the kitchen announced that we had a choice of two dishes, one that the men were eating and the other was lamb, not ready yet, still cooking. We thanked him profusely whilst backing out.

As luck would have it there was a lovely Indian restaurant next door. How serendipitous!

The City Heart Indian Restaurant offers a lunch special meal combo for $19 and under. The Basmati rice was light and fluffy, and not at all gluggy, perfect to blend with the tasty rogan josh gravy with the hint of spice and tender lamb chunks. Vegetable curry was tasty and quite aromatic and very pleasing.

When it came to the dahl we differed on the strength of the spice but that is individual taste (dear Dining Diva devotees please note, this needs diplomacy).

Overall, the meals were light and ample for the price. Clean and bright describes this place, tasteful decor added to its ambience as did the efficient service with a smile.
