Bethanie, one of Western Australia’s most well known not-for-profit aged care and retirement living providers recently hosted the Beth-a-lympics at Bethanie Beachside.

Not only does the event engage clients and keep them active and socially entertained, it is also designed to get Bethanie clients and staff into the spirit and race ready for the upcoming annual Live Lighter Games held at Joondalup Arena this September.

“It is very enjoyable – I like seeing residents from where I used to live as I was at Bethanie Illawong,” said Bethanie resident Richard Mason.

One participating Bethanie Beachside client Ted Gilchrist turned 100 on Friday 1st September so they are hoping he will win the award for the oldest participant in the Live Lighter Games in September!

Competing against Bethanie Beachside were clients from Bethanie Gwelup and Bethanie Illawong with four different events taking place – skittles, beanbag toss, hockey and pass ball.

“I enjoy participating in the fun with other residents, I don’t have a favourite activity – I like them all,” said Bethanie resident John Alexander.

All teams were training twice a week for this annual competitive event – with one overall site being announced the winner on the day and all clients joining together afterwards for a luncheon. The Bethanie Beachside Sharks were the ones who took out the competition!
