Port Kennedy resident Doris Staltari is a survivor in the truest sense of the word. First diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer 41 years ago, Doris is still receiving chemotherapy treatment today and has faced her journey with unwavering strength and determination.
Now, Doris is channelling her experience and spirit into helping others. She is one of nine women at Bethanie Waters Port Kennedy Lifestyle Village who have come together to create a calendar called Fifty Shades of Pink aimed at raising funds for Breast Care Nurses. The calendar features brave women like Doris, who have battled breast cancer and emerged stronger. Each month showcases a different story of courage, with tasteful and empowering photographs that celebrate the beauty and strength of these women.
The choice to support Breast Care Nurses is in part born from Doris’ own experience. In 2016, when her cancer re-emerged, Doris turned to chemo@home, a company that provides chemotherapy treatments delivered by experienced nurses in the comfort of patients’ homes. This service has allowed her to maintain a sense of normalcy and dignity, avoiding the frequent and often exhausting trips to the hospital. She’s just had her 97th chemotherapy treatment since 2016 from the chemo@home nurses.
The 2025 Fifty Shades of Pink calendar is $10 and is available for purchase at the reception of Bethanie Waters Lifestyle Villages in Port Kennedy, 18 Olivenza Cres, Port Kennedy WA 6172.
