Baptistcare working to demystify aged care for Western Australians

Do you find our aged care system complicated and daunting?

You are not alone. The system is undoubtedly difficult to navigate and as a result, many families miss out on access to the funding they are entitled.

What you may not know is that there are already more than 100,000 older Australians ahead of you in the queue waiting for services and care options and the fact is, that even after approval, your family could be left waiting for as long as twelve months for the help you need.

Leading aged care provider, Baptistcare, is now offering free community information sessions to provide the right information needed if you are a senior, carer or have elderly parents who may require additional support to stay at home.

Duncan Guy from Baptistcare’s Customer Centre said there have been over 20 government mandated key changes in aged care over the last five years so it is no surprise that it is now even more difficult than ever to understand what is on offer for Australian seniors.

“People have told us they find it useful to have the details explained to them. Being able to ask questions and having the options outlined clearly has given them the confidence to make important decisions about their support and care going forward,” Duncan explained.

“The information sessions are obligation free and designed to simplify the process into an easy to understand format,” he said.

Duncan has already run sessions in North Lake, Joondalup and Busselton with the aim of providing general information and guidance.

The next session is on Sunday, October 7 at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 497 Marmion Street, Booragoon from 2pm to 3pm with plans for more sessions in other locations.
