The Grand Prix of sailing comes to Perth

It’s the most exciting racing on water, the Rolex SailGP Championship is a global championship with national teams battling it out in identical high-tech, high-speed 50-foot foiling catamarans at iconic venues around the world. Racing faster than the wind at speeds exceeding 100 km/h // 60mph, the 2025 Rolex SailGP Championship is driven by the sport’s top athletes, with national pride, personal glory, and bonus prize money of US$12 million at stake. Powered by nature – wind, sea and sun – driven by purpose, SailGP races for a better future.

The Oracle Perth Sail Grand Prix presented by KPMG will launch the 2026 Season of the Rolex SailGP Championship in January — a global calendar of high-speed, close-to-shore events in iconic locations where national teams compete on identical cutting-edge foiling catamarans.

The inaugural Perth event marks an exciting milestone for Australian supporters, offering another chance to cheer on Tom Slingsby and the BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team on home waters, as they take on international rivals on both the west and east coasts for the first time in 2026.

BONDS Flying Roos Grinder Kinley Fowler said: “There’s nothing like racing at home. Fremantle has some of the best sailing conditions in the world and getting the chance to race in front of family, friends and our local sailing community on Bathers Beach will be unforgettable. The energy here is unreal and fans are going to be blown away by how close the racing gets to the grandstand. We’ve always wanted to bring SailGP to the west coast and now we get to show the world what Perth’s coastline is made of.”

SailGP Managing Director Andrew Thompson said: “Bringing SailGP to Perth is a major milestone and the perfect way to launch the Rolex SailGP Championship’s 2026 Season.

“For the first time, we’re introducing SailGP’s ‘race-stadium’ grandstand viewing to Australian racing fans, providing a front-row seat to the world’s most exciting racing on water which has proved incredibly popular at events around the world and will be the best seats in the house.

“The new purpose-built, Waterfront Grandstand, alongside the Beach Club, marks a significant step in elevating the fan experience and expanding our presence in one of our most passionate markets, and I have no doubt our current and new fans will have a fantastic day out by the water,” he said.

Ticket offers will put spectators at the heart of the adrenaline-fuelled action for the inaugural Oracle Perth Sail Grand Prix presented by KPMG. More than 15,000 fans are expected at Fremantle’s Bathers Beach over the two-day event which will run on January 17 and 18, 2026.

For the first time in Australia, fans will have the exclusive opportunity to secure Waterfront Grandstand seats, offering allocated seating just metres away from the national teams battling on identical, high-tech foiling catamarans at speeds exceeding 100 km/h.

From the grandstand, to premium waterfront decks, relaxed beachside access and on-water viewing, SailGP’s comprehensive ticketing program offers unforgettable experiences for every fan.

It’s a thrilling experience on the water with the fastest boats in the world on Perth waters as we host first Sail GP regatta for 2026.
