Lights, camera and a focus on positive ageing

Revelation Perth International Film Festival has again partnered with the Department of Communities and Screenwest to raise awareness and challenges misconceptions about ageing with the short film competition, Life In Pictures.

After a hugely successful competition in 2017 which saw interest from around the world in the project, Life In Pictures returns to Revelation in July with the opportunity for local filmmakers of all skill levels to participate. The shortlisted and winning films screened in community venues, conferences, schools and outdoor screens from Esperance to Montreal and there’s more to come!

Life in Pictures filmmaking competition invites you to enter a short film (max 2 mins long) which challenges the perception of ageing. With the endorsement of the International Federation on Ageing as a way of questioning existing social norms and creating more prosperous, equitable and healthier societies, this competition will encourage positive conversations on ageing.

A total prize pool of $20,000 is available and includes cash, cameras and software. All winning films will be screened at the Revelation Perth International Film Festival in July and via Revelation’s RevOnDemand platform.

The competition has been divided into three categories, each determined by the age of the director (if the entry is from a single person). If the entry is from a group, the age category is the average age of the group put together.
Category #1 – aged 17 and under
Category #2 – aged 18+59
Category #3 – aged 60+
