Men’s Health Week event and premiere screening of Prostate Cancer: From Diagnosis to Rehabilitation…

Diagnosed in 2016 with prostate cancer, David Dyke searched the internet for a story that might help him navigate what lay ahead in his treatment, and hopeful recovery, from this life-threatening condition.

Finding nothing, David was determined to make sure his journey could help others by presenting a raw and honest account of the processes involved, the impacts of treatment, and addressing the taboos around men being more open with talking about their vulnerabilities.

The resulting short docufilm Prostate Cancer: From Diagnosis to Rehabilitation follows David closely through the following years of treatment and rehabilitation, smashing taboos along the way. It’s premiere screening will take place at a Men’s Health Event being held at The Rise in Maylands on Sunday 16 June 16as the keynote program item in the day’s events. The event program has a variety of Men’s Health workshops and presentations and will be facilitated by City of Bayswater Mayor, Cr Dan Bull.

The Men’s Health Week Event runs from 12 noon – 5.30pm with information stalls from health and wellness organisations, local activity and sporting clubs, on-the-spot health checks, sign-ons and food trucks.

This project would not be possible without the assistance of the City of Bayswater.
