Mark your diary for Wednesday November 12 from 9am to 3pm for the Seniors Recreation Council’s annual free Have a Go Day…a LiveLighter event at Burswood Park.
Healthy ageing through activity is the shared ethos of Have a Go News and the Seniors Recreation Council of WA. For more than 33 years, this strong partnership has worked together to deliver positive ageing outcomes for Western Australians, promoting wellbeing, connection, and active lifestyles across the community.
We continue to see the results firsthand of people who have maintained physical activity and strong social connections throughout their later years; this event provides an opportunity to achieve both.
Have a Go Day is a celebration of active living, offering a welcoming space to try new activities, meet others, and embrace the benefits of staying engaged in mind, body and with community.
With more than 200 stall holders there is something for everyone, including relevant information from many government and health providers, product displays, clubs to join and activities galore. It’s your one stop shop for ageing well.
Nine News Perth will be on the grounds again, bringing celebrities including Monika Kos, who will MC the official opening. Come down and meet the team, have a spin on their chocolate wheel – there are lots of prizes to win.
There are always new and fun things to see and do and this year is no exception with Circle of Sword’s medieval sword fighting demonstrations, chair dancing, bell ringing and pickleball.
We know laughter is the best medicine and Laugh WA will demonstrate the benefits of Laughter Yoga which should give everyone the giggles.
Take the opportunity to be adventurous and canoe on the river and enjoy the freedom of this fabulous water-based activity.
The very popular Trishaws for Seniors will be on the grounds offering people free rides around the park.
Why not be a part of the official walk and meander around the grounds following the official welcome at 10.30am? It’s a great way to kick off the day.
For those who want to become savvier with technology, Tech Savvy Seniors will be on hand with information, advice and electronic activities to try.
Health information and checks are available including posture checks, hearing tests, blood pressure and blood sugar testing.
Have a Go News will be running our hospitality tents serving free tea, coffee and water in a café style with tables and chairs to stop and relax. The chocolate wheel will be spinning at the main tent every hour with great prizes available.
The Juniper entertainment stage offers a fabulous line-up throughout the day of some of WA’s best artists including MetSo, Rebound Rock and Roll, Bush Poets and Moira J Scott. The stage runs throughout the event and there is entertainment all day for everyone to enjoy.
There are a huge variety of food and drink outlets on site or bring a picnic and enjoy all that beautiful Burswood Park has to offer.
