Back in March 1983, Redgum recorded one of Australia’s most iconic live albums, Caught in the Act, at the Rose, Shamrock and Thistle in Sydney. The album became a benchmark for live recordings and cemented John Schumann’s reputation as one of the nation’s finest frontmen.
Now, more than forty years later, it’s 2025 — and the story continues. Following sold-out performances of The Redgum Years across the country, John Schumann & The Vagabond Crew are answering the call for a new live record. Recorded over two nights in Melbourne, The Corrugated Highway captures the power, wit and relevance of Schumann’s songwriting — updated for a world that’s gone completely mad.
Expect a setlist packed with beloved Redgum classics, reimagined with sharp new lyrics, alongside a few rediscovered gems. There’s superb musicianship, soaring vocal harmonies, and the unmistakable presence of John Schumann — the dry-humoured artist–intellectual with a campfire voice, a razor tongue, and a heart for the people.
“The night we saw them, the musicianship, unity and heart of the Vagabond Crew supporting Schumann’s showmanship and storytelling made for a magic show. A show where the audience is hanging off every word and you feel like you are part of something special.” – The Pineapple
For one night only John Schumann & The Vagabond Crew will return to Perth to play the Astor Theatre on November 22. The show includes Special Guest – Rebecca Moore.
Award-winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rebecca Moore creates powerful, myth-inspired Australian rock rooted in her Celtic ancestry. Her upcoming album The Goddess of War fuses bold storytelling and commanding vocals with themes of power, identity and transformation.
