Yagan Square is set to come alive this winter. From Wednesday June 4 to Sunday June 15, Taste the Square will transform the heart of the city into a bold, buzzing hub of flavour, where no two experiences are the same. Think drag bingo, slow-cooked brisket paired with bourbon, progressive dinners that hop between venues, and Italian feasts with a side of opera.
Presented by DevelopmentWA, the program will bring together venues across Yagan Square, from casual newcomers to old favourites, with events designed to get people eating, socialising, and discovering the precinct in a new way.
Taste the Square is all about inviting locals, visitors, tourists, city workers and weekend wanderers into the CBD to experience the best of Perth’s food and hospitality scene. With brightly coloured archways and live entertainment setting the stage, this winter event presents a curated lineup of intimate tastings, hands-on culinary adventures, and inspired pairings.
Whether you’re discovering bold flavours through progressive dinners or stumbling upon something unexpected like taco-fuelled tarot readings, there’s a world of delicious experiences waiting for you.
Program highlights include…
• Bourbon & Brisket at Fat Controller (June 5): A small-batch bourbon tasting and brisket masterclass held in the within the hidden depths of Stories’ speakeasy.
• Drag Bingo with Dean Misdale (June 12): Hosted at The Shoe, this high-energy evening pairs live performance with classic bingo, cheeky prizes and cocktails.
• Tarot, Tequila & Tacos at Pink Taquito (June 8 & 15): A Sunday session of tacos, margaritas tarot readings and good fortune.
• The Italian Kitchen Experience at alba (June 8 & 15): Pasta-making workshops with live accordion music and a three-course Italian lunch.
• Chapters of Stories (June 4 & 11): An intimate progressive dinner experience that weaves through three of Stories most celebrated restaurants: Ugly Baby, alba and KARLA.
• Street Beats & Bites (June 7 & 14): Spend your Saturday soaking up the relaxed, lively vibes of Street Beats & Bites at Street Eats — an easy-going, family-friendly afternoon filled with delicious food and live music.
• Around The World In 10 Tastes (June 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13): Your journey begins at The Shoe, where you’ll collect your passport before embarking on a self-guided, one-night-only tasting adventure through Street Eats, Gangnam, Hiss & Smoke, and Stories Pourhouse in any order you choose.
