After 15 years of performing around the world, recording studio albums and unveiling two opera works, acclaimed Noongar artist Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse will release their first live album, Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse – Live At The Ellington, on July 2.
The release carries deep emotional weight, following the passing of Guy Ghouse AM in November 2025 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
Only months earlier, he had been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his contribution to music and culture.
The album stands as a testament to the duo’s shared legacy. Across four albums and countless performances, Gina and Guy brought the Noongar language to audiences across Australia and the world, using song and storytelling to preserve and celebrate culture.
In 2024, the pair expanded their sound into a full-band format, collaborating with Western Australian musicians Russell Holmes (piano/keyboard), Dr Nick Abbey (bass), Dr Daniel Susnjar (drums) and Rupert John (harmonica).

The ensemble’s chemistry was captured during a performance at Perth’s Ellington Jazz Club in July 2024 — a show originally recorded to showcase to festival promoters, but which would later become the foundation of this live album.
“Everyone was on, and Guy was at his absolute best,” Gina said. “It feels like it was meant to be — a perfect storm that got captured.”
Live At The Ellington features favourites such as Bindi Bindi, Koolbardi wer Wardong, Bilya-k, Koorlangka, Djidi Djidi, Koondarm, Meenak Bilya (Moon River) and Ngarda Djinda Kedalak (Under The Milky Way), alongside previously unreleased songs including Ngalang Moort Kalyakoorl (Our People Forever) and Noonang Koort Warra (Your Wicked Heart).
The album will be released exclusively on double vinyl — a deliberate choice that honours the couple’s shared love of the format. “Guy and I grew up in an era of vinyl,” Gina said. “To have a proper record, a double album, feels like a full circle moment.”
For Gina, the project is both a tribute and a continuation of what she and Guy built together.
“There are all these beautiful little moments where Guy does something cheeky and I giggle at him,” she said. “Any time you hear him playing, it brings him into the room. If you shut your eyes, he’s really there.”
Proudly supported by the WA Government, Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse: Live At The Ellington will be released through Aural Sets Sounds on July 2 and launched at the Ellington Jazz Club on July 5. Gina and the band will be joined by special guests including Daniel Drieberg, Lucky Oceans, Luci Poy and Rupert John.
