Classical music lovers in for a treat when violinist Laura Marzadori visits…

Lovers of the violin and classical music are in for a treat this month with one of Italy’s most sought-after musicians, Laura Marzadori, making her first-ever trip to Australia. And, more importantly, she’s coming to Perth.

Not only does Laura hold the prestigious position of first violinist and concertmaster at Milan’s famous Teatro alla Scala which is one of the leading opera houses in the world, she’s also worked with some of the world’s greatest conductors including Grammy-Award winners Antonio Pappano, Daniel Barenboim and Daniel Harding.

The 35-year-old Bologna-born violinist is certainly far younger than her 99-year-old violin but she’s no newcomer to the instrument. Laura began studying the violin when she was three and a half years old and has won countless awards during her illustrious career.

Laura’s youth and undeniable talent has led her to reshape people’s perceptions of classical music by bringing this genre more into mainstream listening. This has been aided by the fact that Laura also has a significant social and fashion profile in Italy and has performed at the Milan Fashion Week and the San Remo Music Festival. She’s even graced the pages of Italian Vogue and Vanity Fair

Speaking about her debut trip to Australia Laura said: “I’ve been so fortunate in my career that my music has taken me around the world. Australia has been long on my list of dream places to perform and I’m delighted to finally have this opportunity.

“I’m well aware of the strong connection between Italy and Australia and am delighted to perform for, not only members of the Italian-Australian community, but also for the wider community and to share music from Vivaldi who is one of my favourite Italian composers.”

Laura’s Australian tour Vivaldi Gala Night: Journey to Italy is destined to transport listeners through an enchanting musical voyage that showcases the evolution of Italian baroque and contemporary music.

The concert will debut in Perth at UWA’s Winthrop Hall on Friday, September 27 and is presented by Perth’s Italian Consulate. Laura will then travel east for performances in Brisbane and at the Sydney Opera House.

“To perform in an iconic venue like the Sydney Opera House and to also have the opportunity to explore other parts of Australia while on this tour is very exciting,” Laura said.

Tickets to Vivaldi Gala Night: Journey to Italy are available via Tickets WA (www.ticketswa.com) priced at $30 – $55.
