Northbridge is set to come alive with entertaining street performances and free family-friendly activities as part of the City of Perth’s New Year’s Eve celebration on Sunday 31 December.

“The annual 2017 finale is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate with family and friends in the cultural heart of our city,” Deputy Lord Mayor Dr Jemma Green said.

“As an all-inclusive celebration, the event will feature free activities for the whole family, followed by a children’s countdown at 9pm and a small fireworks display at midnight.”

Entertainment will take place on two central stages at the Piazza in Northbridge and the Perth Cultural Centre.

From 4.30pm, children can watch free afternoon movies, enjoy interactive shows or take part in musical workshops.

With live kid’s shows on both stages culminating in a children’s countdown at 9pm, visitors can learn how to hula hoop, dance along to funky jazz, watch acrobatics, laugh at improvised comedy and bop along to African drummers.

Throughout the evening, eclectic stilt walkers, retro cheerleaders on rollerskates, talented percussionists and beautiful ballerinas will take over James Street, further adding to the entertaining atmosphere.

A host of incredible live bands will then take to the stage for the finale, including Murphy’s Lore, Australian Santana Experience and the Milford Street Shakers & Dancers.

Their performances will conclude with a short fireworks display at midnight, with James Street, the Piazza in Northbridge and James Street Amphitheatre providing the best locations for viewing.
