Experience Christmas at Government House with a special free festive open weekend on Saturday December 14 and Sunday December 15, 2024.
Bring a picnic rug and sing along to classic Christmas carols in the Gardens with the Joondalup Symphony Orchestra (JSO), led by passionate and creative music director Michaela Jones.
JSO will be performing a range of classic Christmas carols including Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Jingle Bell Rock (and many more) on the lower lawns from 5:30pm across both Saturday and Sunday.
There will be a great range of food and beverage options available at the event as part of the Consular Corps WA World of Food Festival in the upper lawns. People can bring their own food however, no glass bottles or containers please. This is a free family friendly, alcohol and other drug free event. Food and drink is not permitted within the buildings.
The open weekend will also include self-guided tours of the historic Government House. Tours begin in the Government House Ballroom with last entry into the House at 6.45pm.
The tours will be self-guided and pre-registration is not required. During the tour, people will learn about the history of the House, the Governor’s role, priorities and how the House is used in the present day. Guests will have the opportunity to see the Government House Ballroom, Ante Room, Executive Council Room, Royal Room, Drawing Room, Foyer and the Governor’s Study.
Please note that access to some rooms may be restricted due to capacity constraints. Bags larger than A4 size will not be permitted within the House and Ballroom. Additionally, larger items such as umbrellas, tripods and strollers are not permitted in the buildings. Please note there is no cloaking service.
There will also be a visit from Santa across the weekend!
