Willemina Foeken, from Southern River, WA, has formed a group of 5 women, all seniors, who will exhibit their paintings together at the beautiful Zig Zag Gallery in Kalamunda.
The women have met together in her Southern River studio for meetings and painting sessions in the garden as well as inside.
The four artists exhibiting with her are Shirley Winstanley, Irene Osborne, Georgia Efford and Mary Cowell.
Age has not slowed down any of these women.
Some have degrees and postgraduate degrees in art and some have lectured in art at tertiary level.
A few have developed their art through private teachers and workshops but all work at a high professional standard.
Irene Osborne, Shirley Winstanley and Willemina Foeken have exhibited internationally.
These three, as well as Mary Cowell, teach and conduct workshops from their own studios and for art societies while Georgia Efford regularly holds workshops in Ubud, Bali.
The current exhibition shows we don’t have to travel far to find inspiration.
It is all around us, in a bowl of fruit, a vase of flowers, a corner of a room, sunlight filtering through windows, a pile of clothes, our pets and endless delights in the gardens around our homes.
There is a shared passion for colour, light, atmosphere and finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.
It will be an exhibition to delight the soul and feed the senses!
