Following sell-out seasons in Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, K Mak brings her arresting show to the Perth Planetarium at Scitech.
Weaving cello, violin, synths, beats and vocals into stirring cinematic soundscapes, her four-piece band urges you through the outer universe with sumptuous tailored visuals.
K Mak is the original project of Australian cellist Kathryn McKee, who draws on her experience playing with Kanye West, Eminem, Guy Sebastian, Archie Roach, and Opera Queensland to create vivid, emotive soundscapes. K Mak has played Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Woodford and has featured at a Tedx Youth Forum.
The Planetarium’s unique setting features 18m domed ceilings, reclining seats, 6.1 surround sound and full-dome video projection. Merged with K Mak’s distillation of classical, alternative and electronic music, you may leave your body. “I want to move people in way they haven’t been moved before” says Kathryn McKee, AKA cellist, singer and creator of K Mak.
And with the cello winning Instrument of the Year in last year’s ABC Classic poll, she’s in with a good chance.
