Retirement village wins gold

Kingsway Court retirement village in Madeley has been awarded Best Retirement Living Operation at the 2024 WA Property Awards.

Awarded by the Property Council of WA, the judging process assessed entrants on the satisfaction of residents, the quality of facilities and environmental, social and governance factors.

Operated by Brightwater Care Group, Kingsway Court recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with residents coming together in the newly refurbished clubhouse to toast the past and the future.

Positive referrals by residents have contributed to a substantial wait list of people looking to move in and enjoy the award-winning lifestyle.

“My husband Mike and I have been at the village for 19 years and we’re very, very happy. We love it here,” said Marlene Napper, a resident at Kingsway Court for 19 years. “We looked at other villages, but we chose Kingsway Court because we loved the homes, we loved the gardens, we loved everything that goes on in the village. We’ve got everything – bowling green, swimming pool, library – everything.”

With Monash University research showing one in five people over the age of 75 feel lonely, the close-knit community at Kingsway Court encourages those vital social connections which can significantly enhance a person’s health, wellbeing and quality of life.

“The joy and camaraderie of the residents never fails to put a smile on my face,” said Sarah Mosconi, Manager Kingsway Court. “From book clubs to snooker and lawn bowls, every resident can belong and connect to what they love the most.”

Brightwater CEO Cath Stoddart reiterated the importance of belonging. “Community and connection play such a large part in helping people to thrive, particularly in later years. Being able to belong in a meaningful way is a key focus across Brightwater, and I’m so proud of the staff and residents at Kingsway Court for fostering such a magnificent sense of community.”
