Frank Smith delves into the plans for the changing face of Perth as proposed by the State Government and the City of Perth together with the Federal Government. When Perth was originally settled the city was built on the river but over the years much land has been reclaimed and now planners propose to reinvest by redesigning the foreshore. Green inspired retirees are being slugged by centrelink when earning money from generating electricity if they claim a part pension. Brian and Patricia Kirkham invested more than $10,000 in solar panels and now if they receive income from generating power it will be deemed by centrelink as income and affect their part pension. Frank Smith speaks with them on page 20 of the August 2010 issue. This month Ara looks at Council House and the history of the site.
