Using cricket to help enrich the lives of US school children

Frank Smith spoke to Global cricket consultant Ted Hayes who was in Perth recently to speak at a Department of Sport and Recreation Club conference. Ted has introduced cricket into schools in California and you can read more about how cricket has helped students in the states. See more on page 3.


Conversations on aged care

The Federal Minister for Ageing Mark Butler has been holding ‘conversations on ageing’ around the country and one was held in Perth last month. Unfortunately the Minister was unable to attend but in his place COTA CEO Ian Yates spoke about the Productivity Commission’s report on Caring for older Australians. Heritage Corner

This month Ara Jansen looks at the Palace Hotel. The site was used from 1830 and was the first licensed premises in the Swan River Colony and the Palace Hotel was built in 1895. Read more about this historic building on page 8.
