Hearing Awareness Week From 22-28 August the Deafness Council of Western Australia is holding Hearing Awareness Week. This provides people the opportunity for to have a free hearing test, watch a movie with captions and discover why that one in six Australians suffer with some form of hearing loss. 	Aged Care The future of Aged Care in Australia is a subject that creates much debate. See pages 49 and 50 of the August issue for interesting information and articles including the importance of Vitamin D in older people and journalist Frank Smith looks at the names and pricing of drugs in relation to the National Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme.
Have you been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease? Parkinson’s WA holds regular seminars for people who have been diagnosed within the last five years as well as their family and carers. The next seminar will be held on 2 September, please see page 49 for more details.
	Shoulder arthritis Physiotherapist Jemma Aldridge takes an indepth look at arthritis of the shoulder joint and the various treatments that are available for sufferers. See page 45 for more details.
Stroke survivors The National Stroke Foundation is planning to start a new stroke support group in Bentley. If you would like to find out more about the group and where they meet around WA read more on page 49.
